My Number One Passion is Writing

I love to write. Writing just seems to come naturally to me.  For me, the writing part is easy but getting all the words correct and making the story come alive with believable and well-rounded characters takes time and lots of work.  I believe my writing has improved with each new novel I write.  If I keep it up long enough, I’ll get fairly good at it. (LOL)

Stanley Straub was born in Red Mountain California.  He attended Lyon’s Grade School in Walton Oregon and then graduated from Willamette High School in Eugene Oregon.  He graduated with a Mathematics degree from El Camino College in California.

Mr. Straub joined the Navy out of high school and spent four years as a Guided Missile Technician.  After leaving the Navy, he worked at Douglas Aircraft Company as a technical writer for five years and then worked at TRW as an electrical engineer for over twenty-eight years.  He married Linda Bash in 1960 and they had three children, Donald, Ronald, and David.  He spent most of his life in California after leaving the Navy in 1962.  After a long and fulfilling career in the Aerospace Industry, he and his wife moved to Cottage Grove Oregon in 1998. His wife Linda passed away in 2012.  In 2013, he met Donna Gabrielli of Lebanon Oregon.  In 2013 he married Donna and moved to Lebanon Oregon where he lived with her until she passed away on 26 November 2020.  His oldest son, Donald, passed away in 2014.

Stanley is of German ancestry, stands 5’11” and weighs slightly over 200 pounds.  He has hazel colored eyes, and what hair he has left is a mix between brown and gray, mostly gray.  He has worn glasses since he was in high school.  He lost a lot of his hearing after he left the Navy and went to work in the Aerospace Industry.  He then started wearing hearing aids which he wore for many years until his hearing got worse.  Then he received a Cochlear Implant (CI) in his right ear in 2005.  The CI implant allows him to hear, not perfectly but well enough to communicate most of the time.  He has a great sense of humor and incorporates it into the stories he writes.

Stanley is a master at crafting technical thrillers that will capture you and thrill you with his stories.  He loves writing and especially Science Fiction suspense stories.  He has been honing his skills by writing spine-tingling stories since he was in grade school.  In college, an English teacher read one of his Science Fiction short stories and told him that it was really good and it showed that he had a very imaginative mind.  She told him that if he kept up his writing that someday he’d become a published writer.  It took a few years, but her prediction came true when he published his first book, “The Killer Within”.  Now, he has several books published.  The latest book is The Terminus List.  He’s working on a new book, Bobby McDane and the Missing Unicorn.  It’ll be a Young Adult book that can and will be enjoyed by people of all ages.

His father told him when he was younger that he was wasting his time writing and would never amount to anything.  However, when he was hired as a technical writer in California, his father then started telling everyone what a great writer he was and how proud he was of him.

Mr. Straub has his own unique style. If you like reading suspense thrillers, then you will love reading his books.
